Dave Van Ronk
Various

Dave Van Ronk reaffirms belief in the richness of American Music." - THE BOSTON GLOBE.

From a crackling whisper, to amoody moan, to a raucous show, Dave Van Ronk's voice has been bathed in as much critic's ink as whiskey over the years. More than thirty-five years of playing coffee houses, village clubs, and college music lectures.

Van Ronk began his recording career in 1959 with 'Balads, Blues and a Spiritual' on folkways, and with twenty recordings under his belt, Van Ronk continues to evolve his sound and defy music writers' pigeon-holing. Van Ronk credits his longevity to his versatility and willingness to journey, with guitar in hand, through musical genres. From the Greenwhich Village folk boom of the 60s where he got his start to the sweetness of the old pop duet "Two Sleepy People" sund with lon-time friend and former guitar student Christine Lavin on Gazell's "Hummin' To Myself", into rag-time guitar versions of Jelly Roll Morton, the preeminent performer didn't forego a short stint performing rock, and an on-again-off-agina affair with the jug band flavor to the cabaret of Bertolt Breacht and Kurt Weill. He has done it all with aplomb.
