The House Band
Various

THE HOUSE BAND performs acoustic music of stunning freshness and vitality that is impossible to resist. Since 1985 they have earned an international reputation for musicianship of the highest possible caliber. Their breathtaking acoustic range encompasses Irish, Scottish, Breton, Northumbrian, and many other musical traditions, all performed with an artistry that uncannily captures the essence of each.

Ged Foley on vocals, guitar, mandolin, Northumbrian smallpipes; Chris Parkinson on melodeon, harmonica and vocal; and John Skelton on flute, bombarde, whistle and bodhran; and Roger Wilson on vocal, fiddle and guitar.

The group has recorded for Topic Records and Harbourtown in Britain, and for Green Linnet Records in the U.S.A. Their album, "Stonetown", won the British music Retailers Association's "award of excellence" for Best Folk Music Album of the Year.

Their concerts feature wild and energetic dance tunes, haunting traditional ballads, archingly beautiful slow airs and fine contemporary songs, all presented with warmth and vitality.

The Celtic music find of the year. . . brilliant playing, crystalline ensemble work and an unerring taste for great material." --The Boston Herald
