| R. Carlos Nakai |
Instrumental
Native American flutist / composer R. Carlos Nakai provides new and exciting dimensions to the beautiful flute music of his Navajo-Ute heritage. His haunting, peaceful music is filled with clear, contemplative melodies that seem to create a vivid soundscape of the American Southwest. The son of a former Navajo tribal chairman, R. Carlos Nakai has lived among five North American native tribes, studying their traditions and philosophies. Playing hand-crafted flutes made from cedar wood 300 or 400 years old, he combines his own innovative impressions with the trditional melodies of the Zuni, Blood, Lakota and Kiowa peoples.
