Noting her original compositions and unique interpretations of Brazilian music and jazz, The Philadelphia Enquirer call Outstanding Jazz Vocalist nominee Souza, "an exceedingly hip singer." Joining her tonight is a fellow Brazilian, guitarist Romero Lubambo, who has performed with Dizzy Gillespie, Paquito D'Rivera and Dori Caymmi, and who , Jazziz notes, "may be the best practitioner of his craft in the world today." They are assisted by Fernando Huergo on bass and Bertram Lehmann on drums.
