Boston Composers String Quartet
Classical

The members of the Boston Composers String Quartet are: Clayton Hoener, violin; Sue Rabut, violin; Scott Woolweaver, viola; and Nathaniel Parke, cello.

Since its formation in 1985, the Boston Composers String Quartet has performed to wide critical acclaim, bringing together a wealth of experience as accomplished performers on period instruments and adventurous interpreters of new and twentieth-century music. Their characteristically "sonorous, keen and persuasive" (Boston Globe) interpretations of newly written works by Boston area composers have inspired the composition of numerous new works dedicated in their name.

Recipients of several awards, they are particularly proud of a Chamber Music America grant awarded during their tenure as Artists-in-Residence at the All Newton Music School to create a unique music history course entitled Historical Journey through Music of the String Quartet. Their most recent recordings include Daniel Pinkham's String Quartet No. 1 and The Complete String Quartets of Leon Kirchner.
