Discovered by Dizzy Gillespie more than ten years ago, the Cuban-born pianist has since performed with Charlie Haden, Jack DeJohnette and Ron Carter. His approach bridges the Afto-Cuban tradition of Chano Pozo, Machito and Irakere to the sophistication of McCoy Tyner, Bill Evans, and Thelonious Monk.
He currently celebrates his latest release, Antiguo for Toshiba/EMI.
