The Lenny Hochman Quartet

A veteran of the New York jazz scene in the 1950's, reedman Hochman returned to the jazz scene in Boston in 1989 after raising a family. Nominated last year for a Boston Music Award for his CD, Until Tomorrow he performs with vibist Locke and bassist Swartz to celebrate his second CD, Manhattan Morning, on GM.

Bob Blumenthal noted in The Boston Globe that "he is a true original. We can count ourselves fortunate that , after his lengthy hiatus, Leonard Hochman has chosen to go on singing."

(June '97) This veteran reedman plays tenor sax and bass clarinet with a master's touch and a fresh style that brings new life to ordinary swing and bop tunes. His new CD "Manhattan Morning," with Kenny Barron and Harvie Swartz in the rhythm section, has resided at #8 on the Gavin Jazz charts since mid-May.

"Hochman hints at Stan Getz, Lester Young and Dexter Gordon, while displaying a solid tone of his own." --Jazziz
