Andy Statman's new Shanachie album, "Between Heaven and Earth: Music of the Jewish Mystics," draws upon a lifetime of musical searching and discovery, yet it is a profound and dramatic change of direction that sounds unlike anything he, or anyone else, has created before.
He has recorded klezmer with Itzak Perlman and bluegrass with David Grisman, and now adds yet another chapter.
