Smokin' Grass is a band that has been together for three years and has developed a reputation as a high energy dance band. The band is a five piece that plays a mixture of originals, bluegrass standards and whatever else they come up with. Featuring a unique instrumentation that highlights pickin', they also sing many vocal harmonies. The music is uplifting, fun and gives the listeners plenty of opportunities to dance and shake their bones.
Having got their start playing bi-weekly gigs at Manhattan Pizza in downtown Burlington in 1994, the band now plays regularly at bars, college events, ski resorts, weddings, festivals and private parties. They have played shows with bands such as Rusted Root, Leftover Salmon, J.D. Crow & the New South, Lonesome River Band and The Nashionville Bluegrass Band. Banjoist Gordon Stone and Vermont state fiddle champion Pat Ross frequently make appearances with Smokin' Grass. The band has also opened up for Buckwheat Zydeco.
