Trumpeter/composer/arranger Hopkins, who has performed with Dizzy Gillespie, Frank Sinatra and the Boston Symphony Orchestra, has gathered around him a galaxy of Boston's most distinguished players, including Jeff Stour and Pail Fontaine (tp), Jeff Galindo (tb), Mick Goodrick (g) and Joe Hunt (dm) to create a vibrant 16-piece ensemble.
Relying mostly on his own compositions and arrangements, Mr. Hopkins conducted a spirited Monday night series at Boston's Club Nicole (winter '96/97).
