The leading light of the Psychedelphia scene, Bardo Pond comprised singer/flautist Isobel Sollenberger, guitarist brothers Michael and John Gibbons, bassist Clint Takeda, and drummer Joe Culver. After issuing a handful of singles on the Compulsive label, the group delivered their full-length debut Bufo Alvarius Amen 29:15 -- so named in honor of a Colorado River-area toad famed for its hallucinogenic secretions -- on Drunken Fish in 1995. Big Laughing Jym, a collection of outtakes and home recordings, followed later that same year before Bardo Pond signed to Matador for 1996's Amanita. Lapsed appeared a year later, and in 1999 Bardo Pond returned with Set and Setting. Dilate arrived in early 2001. Jason Ankeny
