Tricycle was formed in 1997 by drummer Todd McLellan and guitarist Mike Lecuyer who met in school at the University of Massachusettes Lowell. The band was named Tricycle after finding lead vocalist / bass player Kirk Sbrega from Gardner, MA. The band specializes in melodic rock / alternative music with pop influences. The band has been compared to the sounds of Green Day, Blink 182 and The Goo Goo Dolls. After 5 years of significant radio airplay, endless shows in New England and Los Angeles and releases of "The Making of a Deliquent" and "Almost Always Never", Tricycle parted ways with frontman Sbrega in April of 2002. After a year of searching for Sbrega's replacements, Mike and Todd found former bass player of Slowfore, The Stoops and former lead vocalist / rhythm guitarist for Red Planet/Machine Cut Nova, John Mello. After a year off, Tricycle returned to the stage in Lowell, MA, where it all started again in April of 2003 with a very successful show. With the addition of Stoops and Mello, Tricycle are currently writing harder edged songs to add to their set.
