Lamont Jackson
Gospel

Gospel singer and pianist Lamont Jackson has worked with a number of musical artists during his career, including John P. Kee, Dr. Leonard Scott, Eric Brice, Jeanette Taylor, Clarissa Rhodes, Bryant Scott, and Tracy Schroeder. Jackson has also put together his own choir, New Beginning, and signed a recording deal with Tyscot Records. In the fall of 2000, Lamont Jackson & New Beginning released a debut album titled The Time Is Now. Lamont Jackson was born and raised in Hammond, LA. From a very young age there was little doubt that music would make up a large part of his life, along with his love for the Lord. While still a child, Jackson polished his vocal talents by performing at local churches. He went on to become part of a number of gospel choirs and groups. His first big break came at a John P. Kee concert. A few members from the large audience were offered the chance to sing on stage. Fate works in strange ways. The result of that spontaneous performance landed Jackson a four-year spot in Lee's New Life Community Choir. After he left Lee's choir, Jackson returned home to Hammond where he did seminars and music workshops before forming his own choir, New Beginning. The group was made up of vocalists Tressa Hart, Melissa Judson, Natasha Watson, Keina Perry, Stacey Clark, Natashia Alexander, J. R. Hart, Helen Jones, Stacey Clark, and Raven Carr. Musicians in the choir are LaTarence Whitaker, Shawn Willis, Jason Hodge, Jermaine Hart, and Everett Sanders. Jackson and New Beginning have performed at many concerts including appearances at the House of Blues Gospel Brunch and Rejoice in the Park. Some of the songs Jackson has recorded are "Will You Worship," "Living This Life," "Send Down Your Rain," "Old Rugged Cross," "Give Your Life to God," "Prayer Changes Things," and "Surely He's Able." ~ Charlotte Dillon, All Music Guide
