Kevin Toney

Jazz keyboardist Kevin Toney started his career by collaborating with Donald Byrd throughout the 70s, starting with Byrd's 1972 album Black Byrd and then with his group the Blackbyrds. He also supported saxophonist Andrew White on a number of albums and spent the '80s working with artists like Rahmlee Davis and Brenda Russell. In the next decade, Toney continued his work as a supporting musician and launched a solo career, releasing smooth jazz and funk records like Special K, Pastel Mood and Extra Sensual Perception.
