RX Bandits
Alternative

Liberating power tunes with inspiration coming from as different background styles as furious rock or untamed punk, Rx Bandits also flow along with the nouvelle punk/pop stream, although distinctly providing ska's stimulating melodies, moved by the works of bands like Reel Big Fish. Forming in the late '90s in Seal Beach, CA, the crew first counted on a four-piece team lead by vocalist and guitarist Matt Embree and drummer Chris Tsagakis. Later joining the squad were Rich Balling (trombone) and bassist James Salamone, who substituted the two former elements besides Embree and Tsagakis. It was also at this time that the band entered their first major tour alongside bands like New Found Glory and the Bloodhound Gang. The band's raving melodies and flammable shows quickly provided them with an ever-growing fan base extending beyond their state area. In 1999, the Bandits charged the record scene with Halfway Between Here & There, their first album for a major label. Following two years filled with restless touring seasons, the band delivered Progress, their second album, in 2001, again filled with mongrel-style inspirations of reggae and ska. Only a few months after delivering their sophomore effort, the Bandits announced the departure of Balling and Salamone, at the same time denying rumors that the band was breaking up. ~ Mario Mesquita Borges, All Music Guide
