The Pietasters
Alternative

Somewhat more eclectic than the average third wave ska revival band, thanks in part to the varied Washington, D.C., punk scene of the '80s, the Pietasters augment their Two-Tone-influenced ska and ska-punk with a strong affinity for R&B, especially Motown. Formed in 1990, the band consists of vocalist Steve Jackson, guitarist Tom Goodin, bassist Todd Eckhardt, drummer Bob Steward, trumpeter Toby Hansen, trombonist Jeremy Roberts, and saxophonist Alan Makranczy. After building a following through extensive touring beginning in 1992, the group recorded two albums for Moon, 1994's Pietasters and 1995's Oolooloo, as well as a live album, before switching to Brett Gurewitz's Hellcat imprint. Gurewitz produced the Pietasters' third album, 1997's Willis. Awesome Mix Tape #6 followed in 1999. Steve Huey
