Classical
The only permanent chamber music ensemble made up of the principle players of a major symphony orchestra, the Boston Symphony Chamber Players include 12 of the Boston Symphony Orchestra's principle string, woodwind, brass, and percussion players. Founded in 1964, the Chamber Players can perform virtually any work within the vast chamber music literature, from miniature works for one or two instruments to Stravinsky's L'Histoire du soldat concert suite, and they frequently expand their range of repertory by calling upon other members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra or enlisting the services of such distinguished guest artists as Gilbert Kalish, the groups regular pianist.
The Chamber Players' activities include an annual three-concert series in Boston's Jordon Hall, regular appearances at Tanglewood, and a busy schedule of touring and recording.
