DOPEY LOPES, fronted by singer-songwriter David "Dopey" Lopes, combines 70's style heavy-duty guitar with the arena power of 80's rock. The result is a stadium-sized 90's sound. A classic sound with catchy, up-to-date songwriting.
David Lopes, a veteran of the Rhode Island music scene, was the founding member of the popular act "Two Guys and Another Guy." In a career that has spanned over 10 years, he's opened for such acts as The Neighborhoods, Cypress Hill, The Dead Milkmen, The Meat Puppets, and Barrence Whitfield and the Savages, among others.
An 8-song CD which will be titled "Mental Stadium" is currently being recorded under the close supervision of noted Providence Producer Tom Buckland. "Mental Stadium" is a concept CD, revolving around the theme that every performance can take on epic proportions, if the musician lets himself perform within the magical "Mental Stadium." A Spring 1997 release is planned.
DOPEY LOPES performs regularly in the New England area, and receives airplay on WFNX 101.7fm, WBRU 95.5fm, and WRIU 90.3fm. With the addition of guitarist Rob George, along with drummer Mike "Stumpy" Neckritz, and bassist Sean Clarke, DOPEY LOPES is poised, and ready for the future . . .
