George Zilzer
Classical

In honor of the bicentennial of Franz Schubert's birth, pianist George Zilzer will present an all-Schubert concert at the Newton Free Library, Sunday, January 26 at 2:00pm. Schubert was born in Vienna in January 1797. A native of Vienna himself, Zilzer has performed thoughout New England, along the East Coast, and in Canada in both recital and chamber music concerts to great acclaim. The Boston Globe praised his "dazzling technique" and his "display of a virtuosity of contrasts . . . Mr. Zilzer's interpretation was exceptional. He is a splendid pianist."

Zilzer has appeared frequently as a soloist with the Boston Pops and the Boston Civic Symphony, and has performed on WGBH-FM, Channel 2 and other public radio/tv stations. He has taught at Brandeis University and the University of Lowell and at present is on the faculty of the All Newton Music School.
