Singer/Songwriters
This Boston College graduate and Asheville, NC based singer-songwriter has been wowing audiences. In the past year, Christine Kane has opened for Livingston Taylor and Richie Havens, Rosanne Cash, James McMurty and Nanci Griffith. She was also a headliner at Asheville's Bele Chere Festival and a showcase performer at the prestigious Philadelphia Folk Festival.
Putamayo Records selected Christine's song "Off the Ground" to be included on its recent release "Women's Work," a compilation featuring 13 of today's finest women songwriters, including Ani DiFranco, Janice Ian, and Toni Childs.
Praise for Christine Kane's debut CD This Time Last Year: "These songs are so fresh and real. Christine's voice and her eye on the world are a real inspiration and joy to me. This record is only the beginning . . . " -- Rosanne Cash
She is now recording her second CD, which is due for release in the spring of 1997.
"Christine may someday find herself mentioned in the same breath with Mary Chapin Carpenter, Shawn Colvin, Nanci Griffith or Cheryl Wheeler. Her writing and performance are that strong. Inventive and infectious melodies carry her thoughtful and concise lyrics seamlessly. This is the kind of music you play for friends over the phone or better yet, send copies to them." -- The Performing Songwriter Magazine
