Led by Ecuadorian composer, bassist and singer Alex Alvear, this Boston-based ensemble creates a new sound in Afro-Latin and world music. Comprised of performers from different parts of the globe, Mango Blues mines the territory of traditional rhythm and blues, jazz, funk, Caribbean music, Puerto Rican bomba, Cuban santeria, rhumba, songo, and Dominican merengue for a unique ethnic tapestry.
