Latin Jazz Brazilian composer and multi-isntrumentalist Pascoal, a self-taught master of piano, flute, tenor, sax, accordian, synthesizer and bass clarinet, has performed with Miles Davis, Airto Moriera, Flora Purim, Chick Corea and John McLaughlin and composed works that have been recorded by the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, Charlie Haden and Gil Evans, among others. He found music as a child, when as a albino, he could not follow his father into the fields to work in the sun, and instead would sit beneath a tree playing a bamboo flute. At times his iconaclastic muse has led him to augment his percussion with pots and pans, hubcaps, beer bottles, teapots, toy trains and sewing machines. |
