Bill Frisel continues to be one of the most stunningly original musicians currently playing from the jazz tradition. With the group from his Nonesuch CD "Quartet," he deconstructs various elements of the American musical landscape and then reassembles them into a collage of very personal statements, not without his characteristic whimsy and general good humor.
His most recent CD "Nashville" includes playing form bluegrass greats Jerry Douglas and the Alison Krauss Band, among others. "His guitar, sometimes electric, sometimes acoustic, sometimes vague and airy, sometimes cold andhard, motors quietly in and out of the horns.
