Classical
Nana Mouskouri grew up on American jazz and black gospel. She attended a classical music conservatory, but was thrown out when it was learned that she was playing jazz on the side. She later worked with Harry Belafonte and Quincy Jones. She's an articulate, resonant soprano. The best selling female artist of all time worldwide, she is to Europe what Streisand is to America, her career spanning across four decades; among her many releases were 1964's Favorite German Christmas Songs, 1971's Turn On the Sun, 1986's Tu M'Oubiles, 1997's Return to Love and 2000's Meisterstucke.
