About The Band:
Don Carr: has been on the music scene for over thirty years. He is well-liked and respected everywhere. During his long musical career, Donn has played with some of the best musicians in the country. His playing is spirited, innovative, and above all musical. As a leader he strives to maintain the integrity of the music and allows each of his musicians ample time and space to stretch out and play. Listeners and musicians alike readily agree that, "Donn truly loves to SWING THAT MUSIC!"
Brandy Billingsly has to be Boston's best kept secret. Although her name is not a household word nationally, she is well known and genuinely admired by the New England musical community. Her sensitive and thoughtful treatment of all her material continues to delight audiences everywhere. Listen especially to her exceptional phrasing and interpretation of the lyrics. She is truly one of a kind. Musicians know her as a leader in her own right and also as an unselfish promoter of many jazz venues. Ms Billingsly is a talented musician who continues to dedicate herself to furthering the cause of live musical performance.
John Clarke Jr. is fast becoming a leading "trad" and "swing" personality in the New England area. In addition to his doctoral studies, John finds time to perform with a wide variety of groups in the Boston area. Few musicians of his age display the maturity knowledge and authentic feeling that John brings to his performances. Furthermore, this guy is really versatile. His performances are amazingly convincing in a wide genre of musical styles. John's commitment and dedication to his craft are evident in everything he plays.
Dave Landoni seems to be "The Man" to call nowadays if you want the job to be done right. Recognized by all as a true gem in that specialized fraternity known as bass players, Dave is a delight to have on any session. His engagement book is full, and he divides his time between a number of groups of varying sizes ans styles. Many know him for his outstanding work with the Artie Shaw Band (now under the direction of the great Dick Johnson). He also plays for the TKO Big Band which is comprised of many stellar musicians in the area. Whatever the occasion, if Dave's on the job, you're on solid ground.
Dave Whitney Needs no introduction to lovers of traditional jazz. While reviewing one of Dave's performances at the University of New Hampshire Traditional Jazz Series, a critic observed "...Dave Whitney typifies what the whole effort is about; an imaginative performer young in years but steeped in musical values, free from fads but constantly investigating fresh modes of musical expression..." Ron Della Chiesa (WGBH Radio) dubbed Whitney: "the reincarnation of Bix Beiderbeck." In addition to his excellence as both instrumentalist and vocalist, Dave has worked constantly toward the preservation of this important American art form especially through the Young Audiences Program in the public schools.
