When Wild Bill Evert, a promotion minded eccentric, takes over a losing NBA franchise, he overhears the advice of a die-hard fan "Eddie" to put a rookie into the game plan. Taking Eddie's advise, Wild Bill's team wins. So, as a publicity stunt, Coach Bailey is fired and Eddie becomes the new coach who no one takes seriously. Standing on the side lines watching her team lose one game after another, Eddie rallies and prays hard for her team to rebound.
