THIS ISLAND EARTH is a nicely lame 1954 science-fiction film featuring aliens with bad wigs and big foreheads, along with running commentary from one man and a couple of robots watching the show. "OK, let's see, Shatner, Shatner...no, it doesn't look like he's in this one," says a voice over the opening credits. "We're safe." The film's seven writers tirelessly provide back talk to turn heckling into an audence participation sport.
