Part One: Festival of the Nations Part Two: Festival of Beauty One and a half million feet of film were shot and edited by Riefenstahl, assisted by the great avant-garde filmmaker Hans Richter. Many sequences in this film are justifiably acclaimed as among the most spectacular examples of documentary photography, shot composition and montage bravura. More than a hymn to physical beauty and athletic glory, the film's compelling cinematic vision functions both as optical poetry and as a monument to the Nazi ideal of Kraft durch Freude (art through friendship).
Directed by Leni Riefenstahl with the participants of the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin (German without subtitles, bw, 35mm)
