(1955) dir Joshua Logan with William Holden, Rosalind Russell, Kim Novak, Cliff Robertson
The Academy Award-winning film based on William Inge's Pulitzer Prize play, now reissued in a gorgeous brand new 35mm print completely restored by Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Picnic tells the story of Hal, a 30-ish drifter (William Holden) who blows into a small Kansas town one Labor Day to look up an old college chum, Alan Benson (Cliff Robertson in his film debut). When Holden meets Benson's fiancee Madge - the town's prettiest girl, (Kim Novak in the role which vaulted her to top female stardom), needless to say, sparks fly.
