Chris Frantz, Jerry Harrison and Tina Weymouth, as Talking Heads, comprised the most important rhythm section of any CBGB's-era band. Now, as The Heads, they have taken the basics of that sound into a new era, with results equally fun and funky. The wryness and intelligence that have always characterized The Talking Heads' work are reflected in their collaborative efforts with such dissparate writers and singers as Michael Hutchence of INXS, Andy Partidge of XTC, Ed Kowalczyk of Live, and Maria McKee, although The Heads still sound like The Heads, their instrumental signature quite as indelible as any singing voice.
On their current tour Johnette Napolitano of Concrete Blonde performs as lead vocalist, with guest appearances at selected dates.
