Germany, 1918, 60 min. Piano score composed & played by Alison Faith Levy Director: L. Victor Janson Medical student by day, prostitute by night. To fulfill her dream of studying in St. Petersburg, Lea, a young Jewish woman from a restrictd shtetl, accepts the degrading "yellow ticket," a visa granted only to prostitutes. Shot on location in Warsaw, then hidden under floorboards in Hollland during the Nazi occupation, the film was painstakingly restored by the Israel Film Archive. Pola Negri, who later became a star under the direction of Ernst Lubitsch, stars as Lea. Introduced by Vida Johnson, Professor of Russian, Tufts University.
