Synopsis: Nazareth-born writer and director Michel Khleifi artfully blends realism and allegory in this jewel of a film set and made in a refugee camp in the Gaza Strip. Youssef, a 12-year-old Palestinian boy, embarks on a quest to win the love of the beautiful Aida by finding the three jewels missing from her grandmother's necklace. Without minimizing the poverty, violence and fear all around, the film soars, a tribute to the liberating power of the imagination.
