Synopsis: DAENS tells the story of one man against society. In the town of Aalst in 19th century Belgium, abysmal working conditons in the factories are killing men, women and children. In steps Father Daens, a local minister who denounces this to the press. The factory owners mount a conspiracy against Daens, forcing him to take his case to politicians who are no better. Eventually Daens must choose: the priesthood or politics. Which will save his people? One of the great political films fo our time.
