Synopsis: James Dean's role as a juvenile problem from a good home centers this archetypal 50's family drama. Three aolescents played by Dean, Natalie Wood, and Sal Mineo experience a mutual attraction that fuels their confrontations with the adult world. Nicholas Ray is sympathetic to this youthful alienation, leaving his characters ample space to reveal their confusion and anger. none of this, could have been puled off without the ironic presence of James Dean.
