Synopsis:
This video documents the appalling human rights abuses in Indonesia and East Timor stemming from the July 1996 government crackdown, the worst in the three decades of General Suharto's military dictatorship. I highlights the courageous efforts of the opposition movements to bring democratic change to Indonesia and East Timor. The film includes interviews with opposition leader Megawati Sukarnoputri, writer Pramoedya Anata Toer, jailed labor leader Muchtar Pakpahan, and student activists.
