Synopsis
In a cinimatic first, director Fredric Mitterand casts Puccini's beloved opera with Aian and Western actors, giving this film a haunting realism seldom sen in opera. Soprano Ying Huang stars as Butterfly and American tenor Richard Troxell is Lieutenant Pinkerton. James Conlon conducts the Orchestre de Prais. Beautifully sung and gorgeous to behold this film version received "Two Thumbs Up" from Siskel & Ebert
