Synopsis
The Dark Knight returns in this, the third entry in the fantasy-adventure series. This time the caped crusader takes on two nefarious villains, finds a love-interest, and finally gets himself a partner in crimefighting: Robin. The tale
begins as the terrible Two-Face, a former DA who had one half of his face horribly disfigured by acid, and as a result had his personality split into dark and darker halves, launches his campaign to discover the Bat's true identity and take over Gotham City. He is eventually joined by a former employee of millionaire Bruce Wayne, a crazed inventor,
Edward Nygma, who goes berserk and becomes The Riddler after his latest invention is derided by Wayne and other executives. Meanwhile Batman encounters the seductive criminal psychologist, Dr. Chase Meridian, who immediately becomes obsessed by the mysterious man in the black rubber suit. He finds her equally fascinating. One night, Bruce Wayne and Dr. Meridian, who doesn't know he is Batman, attend a grand circus. Dick Grayson and his family perform on the trapeze. The villains attack and the young acrobat's family is killed. Unable to prevent the tragedy, a guilt-ridden Bruce Wayne invites him home. With faithful butler Alfred's assistance, Dick soon learns Bruce's secret and joins him as the nimble Robin. In the end, amid spectacular special effects, the two must engage in mortal combat with their enemies to save the city and themselves.
