Alto sax maestro Carter, whose history in jazz stretches back to the 30s, remains forever fresh. His double CD (which was recorded with his fellow alto saxist Phil Woods), Another Time, Another Place, on Evening Star, was released early '97 to critical acclaim. In addition to celebrating his CD, Mr. Carter is now celebrating a significant birthday, (June '97 is the month of his 90th birthday).
The quintet includes: Benny Carter & Phil Woods with Chris Neville (p), Steve LaSpina (b) and Steve Johns (dm) backing up the masters.
