McCormick was awarded the grand prize in the USA Songwriting Competition sponsored by the American Songwriter's Network for her song "Right Now," the title track of her CD, which was featured in the July/August Performing Songwriter, as one of the issue's Top 12 Independent recordings. Vermont-based Lisa McCormick is a fast-rising star on the folk and alternative folk music circuit. The Washington Post writes: "In a field crowded with would-be philosophers, poets and storytellers, each toting a guitar, McCormick stands out as someone who`s really worth hearing." Her album, "Right Now," on Rising Records has been garnering critical acclaim nationwide.
