Synopsis
Ten interspliced tales of love and lovemaking, potions and betrayal, linked by the story of Mur-El-Din searching for his kidnapped slave girl. Pasolini took almost two years to complete this final and best segment of his trilogy of great story cycles, the others being The Decameron (1971) and The Canterbury (1972). Filmed in Yemen, Eritea, Iran and Nepal, it captures the beauties (landscape, buildings and people) of those countries, and the bawdy spirit of the original tales, untramelled by Freudian or religious guilt.
