Synopsis
Fire played to a sold-out house at this year's Boston International Festival of Women's Cinema and was selected for one of the coveted slots at the 1996 New York Film Festival, where it received critical acclaim. Director/Writer Deepa Mehta, who was born in India and emigrated to Canada in 1973, challenges traditional conventions of a New Delhi family in this daring story of two women who find emotional and sexual passion with each other in the midst of troubled marriages.
