Synopsis
Once known as "the Edgar Allan Poe of the cinema." Tod Browning earned considerable acclaim for his creepy colaborations with Lon Charley and Bela Lugosi. At 16 he ran away from home to join a traveling circus as a clown and contortionist. Evidence of his circus past is wonderfully abundant in the embiance of many of his films, particurly Freaks and Mark of the Vampire, as both are infused with a fantastic marriage of vandervillian sideshow antics and horrow flick grotesquery.
