"Dedicated to former Velvet Underground chanteuse Nico, J'ENTENDS PLUS LA GUITARE is a minimally altered recounting of moments from the history of director Philippe Garrel and Nico's relationship, their years together and apart (Nico starred in seven of Garrel's films during the seventies, and stills from his films graced two of her albums). Marianne and Gerard are the names of the couple who, after an idyllic sojourn to Positano, Italy, return to their Parisian flat and the hand-to-mouth existence by which they live. In the course of time, drugs, other partners, money and its absence, love and the uncertainty of love pulls the couple apart and together. One of the most vivid and honest portrayals of what it means to have loved someone ever put on film, featuring one of Johanna Ter Steege's most memorably touching performances.
