Filled with vibrant sensuality and tropical joie de vivre, Tieta of Agreste celebrates life, love, and the vibrant mix of tradition and modernity that is present-day Brazil. Tieta comes back to her village with urbane style, wealth, and a secret. Her modern ways clash with old world manners, but she manages to capture a few hearts and save the day along the way. Sonia Braga stars as the film's defiantly independently heroine.
