The penultimate entry in Paramount's "Bulldog Drummond" series, Bulldog Drummond's Secret Police once more stars John Howard as the private-detective hero, Heather Angel as Drummond's eternal fiancee Phyllis Clavering, and H. B. Warner as the good gray Inspector Neilsen of the Yard. This one finds Drummond at odds with an elusive master criminal, who resides in a spooky old castle chock full of demonic devices. There's very little mystery as to the identity of the villain, especially since the actor playing the role shows up in three different guises. Forrester Harvey, general hanger-on in many a Universal horror film, is promoted to "mad scientist" status this time out. A clever and economical device finds Drummond asleep on the eve of his oft-postponed wedding, dreaming about all his past adventures-whereupon the screen is filled with clips from John Howard's earlier "Bulldog Drummond" entries.
