Every two years, the director's mother, Solange Najman, takes the waters in Evian, compliments of the German government. Against the elegant spa background of therapeutic water treatments and open-air concerts of Strauss and Mozart, concentration camp survivors gather in an informal biannual reunion to waltz, kibbitz, and reminisce. The film is a son's tribute to his beautiful, effervescent mother whose strength and infectious joie de vivre are a defiant victory over her haunted past.
