Synopsis
D.W. Grifith's masterpiece, intended as a response to the widespread idiological criticism of his film The Birth of a Nation is concieved as a historical spectacle, depicting the religious, social and political hatred among different peoples from ancient times to the present day. Employing numerous, cinematic devices in a creative manner, and featuring some of the greatest actions of the silent area, this work has a particular signigicance today in light of existing worldwide nationalistic and ethinic conflict.
