Synopsis
In a sordid seaside hotel somewhere in Spain, as a film crew awaits their director, star, and funds, the group is torn by jealousy, sexual intrigue, and deceit. In typical Fassbinder style, the picture is sleazy and pessimistic, yet formal and elegant. "Beware.." is a jagged but frank chronicle of the disasterous production of Fassbinder's American Western WHITY and marks the start if a new, for Fassbunder, interest in stageing and the end of his dreams of a collective anti-theater. The film, Fassbinder's persoal favorite, ends with a quotation from Thomas Mann that was his own cri de coeur at the time: "I tell you that I am often weary to death of portraying humanity without participating in what is human."
