Bob the Builder and his crew of shiny, happy machines get medieval in this popular preschool series' equivalent of a very-special episode. Bob and company are hired to renovate a run-down castle, but their best efforts are hampered by Bob's retired dad, who becomes "Sir Boss-a-Lot" and is in constant need of rescue. Meanwhile, the machines, inspired by heroic tales of Sir Lancelot, dub themselves "Sir Dig-a-Lot," "Lift-a-Lot," "Dump-a-Lot," and "Mix-a-Lot," while mischievous scarecrow Spud would rather joust than jest as he prepares for a medieval pageant. This 45-minute program digs a little deeper than the usual Builder fare, as Bob and his father have a heart-to-heart about expressing feelings while locked in the castle dungeon. It also contains an atypically naughty bit -- sure to get big laughs -- as Bob's father presents Rolly with a whoopie cushion to steamroller over. Knights is a sturdy addition to the Bob the Builder video library that fans are sure to watch-a-lot. Donald Liebenson
