Six O'Clock News
Genre:Unclassified
Rating:?

WORLD PREMIERE
In this third feature-length installment of his on-going autobiographical project (beginning with SHERMAN'S MARCH and continuing with TIME INDEFINITE) documentary filmmaker Ross McElwee continues his investigation into real life, as reflected in the disaster and danger seen on television news today. Both fascinated and repulsed by the media's ability to capture the worst aspects of life in America, McElwee - having become a father for the first time - ponders the odds of dodging catastrophe in a world as threatening as the one he sees in the six o'clock news. Evoking his amiable narrative voice and a cinema verite aesthetic, this film is a poignant exploration into contemporary American culture and, when the filmmaker can manage to think about it, the meaning of life.
